The following are some questions that we have been asked, we anticipate being asked, and indeed have often asked ourselves…

Who are you?

We are a couple living in DC. That’s about all we really want to disclose. If you want to know more, you could always email us!

What is the purpose of Anonymous Pond?

Well, Anonymous Pond was conceived of in early June 08, as our answer to all of the gutless and trivial image bookmarking sites out there (read Flicker, FFFFOUND!, We Heart It, etc.). It is also meant to be an alternative to the persuasive and biased media and blogs that dominate the web.

Thanks for the rant, but what is the real purpose?

The concept is simple. Through the content we post, we attempt to create a discussion forum on a multitude of broadly political issues.

Where do you get the content from?

As we come across politically interesting images and videos, we post them on Anonymous Pond. When we can, or think it necessary, we include a link back to the source. If the image or video is commonly or easily found, we may not link to it unless we can identify the original owner.  We make our best effort to provide a link and are especially interested in helping to promote smaller websites.

The content seems to be from all over the place (politically speaking). What are your own politics?

We are not interested in the divisive, narrow minded, black and while politics of FOX, CNN, MSNBC, The New York Times, or even some of your liberal and conservative blogs. What we are interested in is a lively debate of the ideas. We may post a video or an image that expresses a point of view that we entirely disagree with.  If it is well expressed or interestingly presented, or if something about it speaks to us, shocks us, moves us, angers us, makes us think, then we may share it on Anonymous Pond.

It is also important to note that we are as critical of the politicians we support as we are critical of the ones we don’t support. Any one person is a collection of ideas. We don’t believe in the wholesale dismissal of all of a person’s ideas simply because we disagree with a few. There are of course exceptions. We will rarely give our time to voices of hatred and intolerance, for such views have self-evident responses and deserve no audience or debate (read Bill O’Reilly, Michael Savage, Anne Coulter, Sean Hannity etc.).

We are committed to restricting our role on the site to presenting our viewers with the idea itself, through images or videos, with no commentary. Please use the comments option to have your views heard!

What if I want to submit something to you?

Thanks! We only accept videos and images. You can send us the file and link or just the link to the email in the contact page (also in the footer). Two things, though, we don’t have the time to respond back and we reserve the right to not post your suggestion. It’s worth a try!
